In Memoriam...Francis Magalona...Man from Manila

Let the wind blow…
Let the wind touch my face…
I wanna take a little break now, shake now, this is what I have to say…                                      -Girl be Mine-

3 years passed by after his death and the artist lives on.

One of the reasons “why the 90s rule” is the unique brand of music of that generation (grunge, hip-hop, metal, rap-metal, alternative, etc.) and here in the Manila, one artist stands out in the rap/pop music scene…FrancisM a.k.a. Kiko a.k.a. Master Rapper and the Man from Manila.

Broke through the music scene in 1990 with a release of the album titled Yo! featuring the mega hit “Mga Kababayan” that quickly became the national anthem of that genre.
String of hits followed and we see his music evolve over the years…never failed to get the attention…and the rest is history and like all catchy tunes that ever played, everything ends with a vacuum.

Sir Kiko died seven months after being diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia on March 6, 2009. He was later awarded a posthumous Presidential Medal of Merit. The award's citation noted that it had been given for his musical and artistic brilliance, his deep faith in the Filipino and his sense of national pride that continue to inspire us.

Red Hendrix inviting the next generation of Pinoys to pay tribute…know his music…know the artist…know the legend…know the Man from Manila.
